Before you ever earned a title, before anyone wrote you off, before the world told you who to be — Heaven had already spoken. Your identity is not a project you build; it is an inheritance you receive. You were chosen, not as an afterthought, but as a deliberate work of love.
1. Chosen — Identity
"But you are a chosen people…" Peter does not say you will be. He says you are. Identity in the Kingdom is not aspirational — it is a present-tense reality. The same God who flung stars across the night sky leaned in and selected you.
"So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." — Genesis 1:27 (NIV)
2. Royal — Inheritance
A royal priesthood is not earned by performance — it is bestowed by birth. In Christ you were adopted into a family whose Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills. You do not beg as an orphan; you ask as a child.
"So you are no longer a slave, but God's child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir." — Galatians 4:7 (NIV)
3. Holy — Influence
Holy simply means set apart. You were set apart so that your life would declare something — the praises of the One who called you out of darkness. Influence in the Kingdom flows from intimacy, not impression. People are not changed by your hustle; they are changed by your light.
"For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' made his light shine in our hearts…" — 2 Corinthians 4:6 (NLT)
A prayer for this week
Father, thank You for choosing me before I could choose You. Teach me to walk as one who is royal — gentle, generous, unshakable. Let my life declare Your praises in ordinary places. In Jesus' name, amen.
